Project Letters From Home 2.0 Update
Well, we seem to be stuck at 70 letters. Thank you, everyone that has sent a letter so far. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. The sailors on board the Russell appreciate it as well. I’m still hoping for 250 letters, so we’ve got a long way to go yet. Any help you all can give in terms of getting the word out would be greatly appreciated. In the mean time, if you haven’t yet sent in a letter — or if you haven’t heard about the project — I’m collecting letters of support for the men and women serving on board the U.S.S. Russell. Once I’ve collected 250 letters (there are 250 serving on board the Russell) I will print them out and send them via US mail. Please send the letters to letters@thinking-right.com.
I’m also working with Severe Studios to collect donations for the Little Sioux Boy Scout camp that was devastated by the tornado last week. If you’d like to make a donation to help out there, it can be made via paypal.

Project: Letters from Home 2.0 Update
Just an update on the Letters from Home project. If you remember, I’m collecting letters for the men and women serving aboard the USS Russell. So far I’ve received a little over 50 letters. Remember, we’re looking for about 250, so we’ve got a long way to go yet.
Once again, any help you all can give would be greatly appreciated. Please pass the word along to family and friends. Or, if you have a blog, please put up a post abou the project. Letters can be sent to letters@thinking-right.com.

Bumped to top:
This post will stay on top for awhile, so please check below for newer posts. I’ve got the email address for Project Letters from Home up and running, and have already recieved several letters. Thank you to those of you who have already emailed and/or posted about this on your blogs.
Once again, I’m collecting letters of support for the men and women aboard the USS Russell - DDG-59. I’m aiming for about 250 letters, so it will be a smaller project than last time. I’ve received word back from the Marines who we sent the letters to late last year, and I can’t emphasize enough how important these letters are to them. It’s really not all that much to ask to sit down and write a short note of support to those putting it all on the line for us.
Please send the emails to letters@thinking-right.com.

Our own Joshua Sharf has jumped into the fray. He has decided to run for Colorado House District 6. He’s running in the primary against Rima Barakat — a terrorist apologist with no conservative credentials. So, I’m proud to announce my support of Joshua for CD-6. I will be doing whatever I can to help get him through the primary and then on to the general.
In other news, it’s time for a new Letters from Home project. This time I will be collecting letters for the Navy. I’ll be sending them off to the USS Russell — DDG-59. So, just like last time, please send generalized supportive emails to me, and I will make sure that they get to the men and women aboard the Russell. When you send your email, please be sure and put “Letters from Home” in the subject line. We’re aiming for about 250 emails, so I’m hoping to have them collected and packed up by the end of the month. As with last time, anything you all can do to help spread the word would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, they have their own blog there on the Russell. There’s some great writing going on there! Their crew gives you a good close look at life aboard a modern destroyer at war.

Project: Letters from Home, Mission Accomplished!
I recieved a note from the PAO I’ve been working with in the 1/1. The letters made it there, and they are now being distributed to the line companies. Here’s the text of the email:
Jim,
Today I received the box of letters and I have already distributed them out to our line companies. I will let you know what the Marine’s response to these letters will be, but I am sure it will be very enthusiastic.
Thank you so much for your time in this project. I know, especially considering your recent health, just how important this was to you.
Please know that this is just as important to us, and the Marines who receive these letters will be thrilled to find out there is so much support coming from back home.
Thank you everyone for your help with this project. There’s no way I could have done it without you!

Hi every one. I wanted to let everyone know that I am back at home again. I’m still ptretty tired, and am still a little confused. I’m hoping to get started back on the letters from home project soon again though, so everyone please bear with me for a while. You all are great! I’ve missed you all a lot, and have a lot to tell you about at some point. Right now isn’t the right time though. God bless you all.
Jim

Bloggers Choice Awards And An Update On The Project

Wow, what an honor. Thinking Right has been nominated for best political blog in the Bloggers Choice Awards. It’s cliche, but I couldn’t have done it without my readers. Let’s face it, unless someone’s reading this blog, it’s just me talking to myself. Anyway, stop by the Bloggers Choice Awards website and vote. There are alot of great blogs there in other catagories as well.
Now, an update on Project: “Letters from Home”. So far, I’ve recieved 380 emails. The response has really slowed down though, so anything you can do to spread the word would be greatly appreciated. If you’ve not sent a letter yet, it’s certainly not too late. If you have, well, there’s nothing that says you can’t send more than one letter. If you have a blog, please post about this project. Otherwise, please spread the word through email to your family and friends. The address the letters should be sent to is letters@thinking-right.com.
Once I reach the 500 mark, I plan on sending out the first batch of letters to the 1st battalion 1st Marine regiment. I know these men and women will really enjoy getting a letter of support from home. i would love to be there to see the look on their faces.

Project: “Letters From Home” Update
Wow, the response so far has been great. I’ve recieved 14 letters today alone. We’ve still got a long way to go though. Remember, our goal is to put a letter into the hands of every Marine and Sailor in 1st Battlion 1st Marine Regiment. That’s about 1000 emails. A big thank you to each of you who have emailed in so far. A special thank you to my fellow bloggers who have posted on this project. Remember, even if you don’t have a blog, you can still pass this along to friends, family, and coworkers via email. I’ll continue to keep you all updated on our progress each day.
