President Bush gave one final visit to the troops in Iraq and met with Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki for a brief press conference.
At end of the Press conference an Iraqi journalist stood up and made some prepared remearks and then through both of his shoes at the President — performing one of the most grave insults possible in the Arab world.
What bothers me is that according to reports the secret service was nowhere to be found during the assault and immediatelyafter the assault. A civilian reporter — an Iraqi reporter — was able to penetrate the fortified green zone, attend a press conference attended by the President of the United States, and lob two shoes at the President. What if those shoes had had explosives in them?
Exit question: What would have happened to an Iraqi reporter who tried something like this 10 years ago?My guess? Think industrial sized wood chipper.

<< Take Me Back Home!

Jim Cannon, has gone to be with the Lord.
Yesterday, we were all stunned by the news that Jim Cannon had passed away.
Jim was one of the Rocky Mountain Alliance of Bloggers founding members, a fierce patriot, and good friend to anyone who he knew.
He had been in a rehab center for some time, but we expected him to be home soon, just like all the other times.
Jim was couragous and he loved the troops as is evident by how he supported them here on his blog.
Please pray for Jim’s family.
I will miss you Jimbo.

I am stunned. Jim just emailed me last Friday - he sounded upbeat saying he was “still fighting”. I will miss his viewpoints and positive attitude in the face of such horrible illness..
My deepest condolences to Jim’s family.

I am at a loss for words this morning. It is probably fitting that, here in Maine, the snow is falling and a gloomy sky has canopied the area.
There are no words that I can say, or ought to say, that would express my feelings right now. Jim was a great commenter and had a gift of expression that too few have. I am thankful to have been able to connect with him, even if only through the ether, and to have been able to include him in my extended online family.
Thank you, Jim, for your writings, comments, and being a part of a greater circle of folks. I regret not having known you better, and we are all a little worse off today because of your demise.
God speed, fair winds and following seas.

Jim was one of my best friends in the blog world, he gave me encouragement to start my own, and lots of advice via e-mails and such. I pray his family will be able to continue.
He shall be missed.
To Jim:
My friend, if you can read what I am typing, I’m sorry I never got to bid you farewell. I trust the Lord is taking good care of you, for you have lived a good life.
