NYT Betrays Country Again

In what can only be considered another attempt to hurt the GWOT, the New York Times has published yet another State Secret. The Times in a June 23rd front page report outed a perfectly legal banking monitoring program. The program uses banking records in Belgium and tracks mainly transactions headed to and from overseas, then — according to the report — the transactions are only further scrutinized if the person(s) involved are suspected of having ties to AQ. The Washington Times and Wall Street Journal also published the story in a sort of “me too” journalism, but the Times broke the story.

This makes two times (that I can think of anyway) where the Times has published classified information in an attempt to “speak truth to power”. Of course, it looks more like a suicide attempt to me. When will the leftist media realize that we are involved in a war with Islamofacism, and publishing State Secrets will do nothing but get us all killed?

Busy, Busy, Busy

I know, I know. I haven’t posted in a while, but I do have a good reason… really! I am hopefully going to start back working again after a long time off because of illness (many of you are aware of the two months I spent in the hospital on and off of life support earlier this year). I also have met someone really special and she and I have begun the long and ancient process of courting. Wow, how life can change so quickly! Anyway, I hope to have something substantive to say later this week. In the mean time be sure to check out the other members of the RMA.

Bill Ritter, What Is Your Position?

Ritter, the Democratic candidate for Governor has said the following in a Rocky mountain news article

I oppose providing welfare benefits to undocumented immigrants. I oppose issuing driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants. I oppose providing any benefit that is prohibited by state or federal law.

Of course, that’s the problem. State and Federal law is wide open on this issue right now.

The state supreme court, in a controversial ruling has said that the ballot measure that the Governor and Republican legislators have worked hard on to get in front of the voters cannot go on the ballot in November.

All this to say that Ritter — despite making a comment on the issue — has really not said anything as far as what his position is on illegals receiving state and federal tax money.

Mr. Ritter, the voters want to know where you stand on this issue. Stop hiding behind spin filled answers and tell us what you really think!

Tax Recipts Up, Deficit Down…

Yup, that’s the big story Via Investors Business Daily. Bush’s tax cut plan actually worked!

I wonder how much play this will get in the MSM? My guess? Probably not much. You see, the Democrats and the complicit main stream media don’t want you to know that Bush’s plan worked and their “tax them to death, and then tax them some more” plan didn’t.

Aided by surging tax receipts, President Bush may make good on his pledge to cut the deficit in half in 2006 — three years early.

Tax revenues are running $176 billion, or 12.9%, over last year, the Treasury Department said Monday. The Congressional Budget Office said receipts have risen faster over the first eight months of fiscal ‘06 than in any other such period over the past 25 years — except for last year’s 15.5% jump.

The 2006 deficit through May was $227 billion, down from $273 billion at this time last year. Spending is up $130 billion, or 7.9%

Hat Tip: Michael @ Best Destiny

Tagged and I didn’t even know it!

The question:

“[W]hat sitcom character would you like to grow up to be?” to other bloggers. (Note: I am over the age of eighteen, so I am rephrasing to question to “what sitcom character would you like to be?”)

Gotta be Chandler Bing. Hangin’ with Jennifer Anniston and Courtney Cox? Crazy fun!

Now for the whole tag thing… Jared at Exultate Justi, La Shawn at La Shawn Barber’s Corner, and Mr. Bob at TDB.

Oh, by the way Chad… I don’t have ziggy bed sheets. I used to have snoopy bed sheets though.

Murtha’s Tinfoil Hat Is Too Tight

I read earlier today that John Murtha (D), Pa had said that he didn’t really know if it was really a bomb dropped by US forces that killed Al - Zarqawi. At first I didn’t believe it, I thought surely no one could be that stupid. I mean we’ve all seen the gun camera footage and everything. So, I did a little research and sure enough he did say it! I found the quote on CNN on their transcript page. The quote was taken from an interview of Murtha by CNN anchorette Carol Lin, here it is:

CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: Fred, one of the most vocal critics of troops in Iraq is Congressman John Murtha. He — last November, as recently as last November, asked — called for U.S. troops to be withdrawn. He joins me now live with reaction to this death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Congressman, it is a pleasure to have you, an outspoken critic in this war, but a very big day for this administration. Is it fair to say that this attack and the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi wouldn’t have happened if U.S. troops were not on the ground?

REP. JOHN MURTHA (D), PENNSYLVANIA: Well, I’m not sure about that. I’m not sure it was a bomb that killed him from the air. So I’m not sure about that. But one thing for sure, this is significant. This is significant, two aspects. One is the fact that Zarqawi is killed, but also the fact that they appointed a defense minister and an interior minister…

As far as stupidity, this ranks right up there with Howard Dean’s claim in the days following 9/11 that the attack was an inside job. Huh, and Murtha wants to be majority leader. God help us.

Can’t We Just Stop and Celebrate?

I’ve watched the news coverage of the death of the most wanted terrorist in Iraq. Truly this was an evil man that deserved everything he got and more. What I can’t understand is the reaction of the media and those on the left. They seem to be either downplaying the death or claiming moral equivalancy between the airstrike that killed Zarqawi and the cold blooded murders that Zarqawi commited. Here are a few samples of the reaction.

Daily Kos: Where is Osama? Where are the batillions of trained Ira)qis? Doesn’t matter, we got this guy, right? We wrote a 25 million check as a reward, and get a new headline to bump off Haditha.”

Democrats.com: “Bring the troops home”

AMERICAblog: “He’s been demonized (clearly he was a bad guy) as the central figure in the problems over there so it will be interesting to see the actual impact of his death.”

The Talking Dog: What a week this has been for the GOP AMERICA! Today’s spectacular news is that terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has been killed in an airstrike north of Baghdad. This was “confirmed” by the Iraqi government, but actual confirmation appears on the Islamist web-site of his “organization”, “Al-Qaeda in Iraq”. In short, it might actually be true. There is no doubt that this will be the greatest day in the long march toward winning the key battle in Iraq in the global war against swarthy-people’s extremism since the fall of Saddam, or the toppling of his statue, or the deaths of Qusay and Uday, or the capture of Saddam, or the battle of Fallujah, or the first election, or the second election, or the naming of al-Maliki.
This comes on top of the defeat of insurgent California school board member Francine Busby in the global struggle taking place in California’s 50th Congressional district.
Take that, you dirty jihadists! You’ve been SERVED! “

From an open thread at Eschaton: Al Zarqawi just got blown up. Well I hope they were able to save his pistol. Bush will want that.
That way he can play with it and the Saddam pistol and pretend he’s ‘Yosemite Sam’!

California Democrat Pete Stark: “This is just to cover Bush’s [rear] so he doesn’t have to answer” for Iraqi civilians being killed by the U.S. military and his own sagging poll numbers”, he goes on to say: “Iraq is still a mess — get out.”

Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich, Ohio Democrat: “We’re there for all the wrong reasons”

From the father of Nick Berg — one of Zarqawi’s victims (via stop the ACLU): “I have no sense of relief, just sadness that another human being had to die…As the poet John Donne said, any man’s death diminishes me. It doesn’t bring my son back, and this will just bring a new cycle of revenge killings”

Joel Achenbach of the Washington Post tries moral equivalancy: “But no human beings are visible in that jet-fighter footage. I actually couldn’t tell what I was looking at — it could have been a warehouse demolition in Tulsa. It was an impersonal obliteration. You could argue that it was the opposite of Zarqawi’s style of killing — he preferred to murder hostages by beheading them in front of a video camera.”

I cannot imagine the pain of Michael Berg. To loose a child is quite possibly the worst thing I can imagine, but Michael Berg also wants George Bush impeached for sending the military into Iraq. Michael Berg also has a history of being about as far left as Cindy Sheehan. Furthermore, he’s dead wrong on this one. Zarqawi’s death doesn’t diminish anything but the terrorists ability to cause more death and destruction. It also shows the next Zarqawi that this is what we will do to you if you decide to mess with the US and its allies.

It really bothers me that people on the left would diminish this accomplishment for political reasons. Make no mistake, that’s exactly why they’re saying this stuff. In the end this will only hurt our war effort and the troops that are putting it all on the line to win this war. Stop for five minutes and celebrate this victory. There’s plenty of time to be a partisan hack later.

Coward?

Two questions for the wayward Lt.;If you didn’t want to go to war, why did you accept your commission? If you believe that this war is not part of the war on terror, would you at least except that your superiors may have access to information you don’t have that would more than justify the war in Iraq?
