Tony Snow has taken the press secretary job at the White House. Snow, previously known as the anchor of Fox News Sunday, and as a speech writer for George HW Bush, Snow is now going back to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave to straighten out David Gregory and the rest of the White House press corps, and to help get the word out about the good things the administration is doing.
WASHINGTON — President Bush named Tony Snow to be his White House press secretary on Wednesday in the latest round of staff changes in the West Wing.
“I am here to break some news,” Bush told the White House press corps in the briefing room. “I have asked Tony Snow to be my press secretary. Tony already knows most of you. He agreed to take the job anyway.”
Snow, former host of FOX News Talk’s “The Tony Snow Show” and anchor of “FOX News Sunday,” will replace outgoing spokesman Scott McClellan. Snow had been considering the White House’s offer for the last several days.
“I am very excited and I can’t wait,†Snow said. “I want to thank you, Mr. President, for the honor.
“One of the things I want to do is make it clear that one of the reasons I took the job is not only because I believe in the president, but because believe it or not, I want to work with you,” Snow said. “These are times that are going to be very challenging, we’ve got a lot of big issues ahead and we’ve got a lot of important things that all of us are going to be covering together.”

The evening of March 2nd I was about to go to bed but realized I had a fever of about 103. The next month was a blur of nurses, doctors, hallucinations, and many other drug induced things.
The next part of this account is from Doctors, medical records and family because I sure don’t remember any of it being on high levels of sedating drugs and the like: They took blood cultures and cultures of stuff in my lungs and found among other things the usual Pneumonia, and a new culprit this time — the flu. That’s how bad off I am right now, the flu and Pneumonia put me in the hospital in critical condition. The frustration over my weakness at 31 is another post for another time.
So, sometime in early April I was transferred to a physical rehab center to try to — once again — get back enough strength to come home. Fast forward past much wailing and gnashing of teeth and more frustration over my weakness to two days ago while walking through the house with a walker my legs gave out. Sprained and bruised my left ankle, spent yesterday in bed debating whether or not to go back to the hospital. Fortunately I haven’t had to and I don’t think I will — for now anyway.
Thank you all for your patience and prayers during my absence. Thank you for understanding this disjointed post as the fog is still clearing, and thank you for understanding that I have to save some of the crazier stuff for another time… or maybe not at all.

The CIA has decided to clean house, they fired an agent today that was caught leaking information to the press.
WASHINGTON — A CIA officer has been relieved of his duty after being caught leaking classified information to the media.
Citing the Privacy Act, the CIA would not provide any details about the officer’s identity or assignments. It was not immediately clear if the person would face prosecution. The firing is a highly unusual move, although there has been an ongoing investigation into leaks in the CIA.
“The officer has acknowledged unauthorized discussions with the media and the unauthorized sharing of classified information,” said CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano. “That is a violation of the secrecy agreement that everyone signs as a condition of employment with the CIA.”
It’s about time! There has been far too much damage done to our national intelligence capability to continue to allow this kind of treason to go on.

Okay, just one post this week. I mean, I do have an excuse — having only been released from the hospital today. Mark Tapscott has a lot to say today in the Washington Examiner about much needed immigration reform:
It received little coverage in the mainstream news dailies, but many bloggers highlighted the significant influence of “Reconquista†advocates and concepts in the recent pro-immigration marches across the country. Reconquista aims must be honestly confronted by all sides if the immigration debate is to be honestly conducted and credibly resolved.
The first thing to understand about Reconquista is that while it is perhaps not the official policy of Mexico, it might as well be. Current and former top Mexican government officials and advisers, for example, along with leaders of U.S. groups like the National Council of La Raza, the League of United Latin American Citizens and the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, routinely co-host seminars of the Foundation for Solidarity of Mexico and America, according to Hector Carreon of the Aztlan Communications Network. The basic aim of FSMA, which is a key convergence point of open-borders advocacy in both countries, is uninterrupted immigration from Mexico to the U.S…
…President Bush should call upon President Vicente Fox and other Mexican political leaders to disavow the Reconquista movement explicitly and to adopt much-needed reforms to expand economic opportunity and spread the wealth more widely in their nation. And Congress should reiterate in law and regulation that, while we will always welcome the world’s huddled masses, those who immigrate to America are expected to become Americans.
To do otherwise is to risk growing in the U.S. precisely the same sort of fevered separatism that now racks France and Germany…

I’m home, but boy am I tired. I hope to get back to blogging next week, but I plan on taking the weekend to settle in and catch my breath. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes. Posting will be light next week as well, as I will have many follow - up doctor appointments to go to and my energy level is still in the basement.
Just a quick note….today, Jim will be released from the hospital. Expect some remarks from him soon.

Just a real quick update on Jim….I spoke with him late yesterday afternoon and the doctors are telling him that his tentative release date from the hospital will be the 20th of this month. What great news! I suppose we’ll have to kill the fatted calf to celebrate when he gets home. Er…..well….perhaps not something that extreme. Maybe just a steak on the grill. Seriously though, how we thank the Lord for His faithfulness and healing mercies. They are from everlasting to everlasting.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and concern.

Hello everyone. This be necessity will be a very short post. I am posting from a medical library at the hospital. I’m sure all my liberal friends were hoping for a speedy demise (ha ha), but I can assure you, rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.
I am working hard at getting better, my hands shake constantly, sometimes I have to think about my words before I say them, and for now, I am confined to a wheelchair for most activities. I miss all of you and can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate the well wishes and prayers. More later (probably in a couple of weeks from me)

So, I’ve been a bit remiss in posting updates on Jim’s progress. I’m really pleased to tell you that Jim is doing very well. Three days ago, he was moved to a rehab hospital here in the Denver area to begin what will be a long arduous course of physical rehab. However, I have every reason to believe that he will tackle this just like he does everything else in life… head on.
Throughout this whole incident, I’ve been impressed with the Lord’s faithfulness in the affairs of man….even when we aren’t faithful.
Once again, thanks to all for your love, concern, and prayers.
Guy (Jim’s Dad)
