Readers… Jim remains on life support and continues his struggle with pneumonia in both lungs. This week has been a particularly difficult one for Jim, in that his lungs are having a difficult time perfusing his blood with oxygen. For those of you that are familiar with such things, you will appreciate how dangerously low oxygen saturation levels of 50 and 60 percent are. While he has maintained levels higher than these, the saturation levels have dropped that low on occasion and have been very worrisome. Please remember Jim and the rest of our family in your prayers as we continue down this fork in the road.

Just a quick note to let all of Jim’s readers know that he continues to fight pneumonia . He is still on life support and heavily sedated; but, the doctors tell us that he is slowly improving. His recovery will take months…not days or weeks. Please continue to lift up Jim before the Lord. We, including Jim, know that we serve a mighty Savior and that thru Him, all things are possible.

I wanted to take a moment and update the readers of Thinking Right on Jim’s condition. He remains in ICU on life support. The doctors have said that he has a very serious case of pneumonia in both lungs. However, as sick as he is..and as critically ill as he is…the doctors have said, that barring unforseen complications, they expect him to recover over a lengthy period of time. Please keep Jim and the rest of our family in your thoughts and prayers. As difficult as this affair has been, we realize that we serve a loving Lord and that all things will work out for good.

Via Strategy page:
March 1, 2006: Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez has been making noises about running the Dutch out of nearby Caribbean islands, areas that the Netherlands have owned for centuries. In response, the Dutch are trying to orchestrate a suitable, and scary, message for Chavez. The Dutch are trying to get the United States to make a port call with an aircraft carrier, and its accompanying warships, at one of their Caribbean islands. This would be part of a series of “messages” that they’re sending to Venezuela. An additional “message” is an invitation to the Venezuelans to take part in a navy/marine exercise that the Dutch are going to run in the Caribbean later this year. This will have U.S., British, French, and even Swedish participation, primarily as a way of demonstrating that if Chavez pulls something against the Dutch-owned islands, he may get a bloody nose. Even without the port call, it’s unlikely that the United States would just stand by if Venezuela made a move on Dutch Caribbean islands.
Hugo Chavez is on the verge of making a big mistake. The writers at Strategy Page are right; there’s no way the US would stand by and let Venezuela kick the Dutch out of the Caribbean. I suspect there are many in the administration that would love to bloody Chavez’s nose after the whole “the US is a terrorist state” thing. What’s more, there’s more and more information that Chavez’s regime has funded and is still funding Al Qaeda. There’s no way the Venezuelan navy could stand a chance against one of our carrier battle groups anyway.
Zogby has released the results of another poll. While Zogby admits that the poll was conducted in conjunction with Le Moyne College’s Center for Peace and Global Studies, he doesn’t tell you that the Center for Peace and Global Studies is a left wing peace activist group. The “poll” also doesn’t release any survey sample numbers either — releasing these numbers is customary. Here’s the deal, we don’t know if these soldiers are Democrat, Republican, grunts, or office staff. The poll also doesn’t release the questions asked either. These details make a difference in the outcome of the poll. For example, earlier this week the CBS news poll touted the fact that President Bush’s approval numbers had fallen into the toilet. But, when you look at the numbers of Dems and Independents in the poll, it’s little surprise that Bush is suffering so;

Consider the numbers in the above graphic … don’t you think that these numbers would make a difference in the results?
Of course the liberal editorialists and opportunists in the media such as Nicholas Kristof of the NYT have latched on to this propaganda and are using it to beat up the war and the mission [subscription required — sorry].
More on the “poll” from Hugh, The Democracy Project, and Mystery Pollster.
