LaShawn Barber Says It Best

Recently I have made it a point to stop by Ms. Barbers site to see what she has to say. She writes on topics of faith and politics with a passion and accuracy rarely seen in today’s society. Today she writes about John Kerry (aka Robinhood junior) and his visit to Jackson’s Rainbow/PUSH coalition in Chicago. It’s a very good post. It debunks Kerry’s “Education Trust Fund”, his bashing of NCLB, and offers some well thought out solutions to the public education crisis in America. Go check it out.

Hillary Confirms Democratic Party’s Socialist Leanings

For many years now, the Democratic party has been leaning ever further to the left. This tilt towards redistribution of wealth and Socialist economic policy started during the great depression with FDR’s “New Deal”. Although, it was necessary at the time, this massive government spending program began what became the welfare state of the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.

Now, in the 21st century the Democrats have advanced this agenda to a new level. With our involvement in the U.N. (Kerry wants to push us further under that bus), the deafening silence of the left in regards to the “hate America” and “blame America first” crowds. Infact, in some cases becoming part of that crowd, pandering to European countries that clearly do not have our best interests at heart (read France, Germany, and Russia),and their Robinhood mentality of robbing from the rich [sic] and giving to the poor, they seem intent to lead us down a path to a socialist society.

The income level of the poor gets higher and higher every time they open their mouths. For instance here is the poverty level for 1993:

Single: $6,970
Four Person Family: $14,350

The stats just Eleven years later in 2004 are:

Single: $9,310
Four Person Family: $18,850

The problem with raising the poverty level is that there is a narrowing “middle class”, those of us who used to be considered middle class are now being considered rich. Therefore, we are now part of the rich that Kerry and Clinton want to tax. Hillary Clinton so much as admitted this “Robinhood” like policy in front of a San Francisco crowd on Monday:

Headlining an appearance with other Democratic women senators on behalf of Sen. Barbara Boxer, who is up for re-election this year, Hillary Clinton told several hundred supporters — some of whom had ponied up as much as $10,000 to attend — to expect to lose some of the tax cuts passed by President Bush if Democrats win the White House and control of Congress.

“Many of you are well enough off that … the tax cuts may have helped you,” Sen. Clinton said. “We’re saying that for America to get back on track, we’re probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”

Well, here is a little advice for you madam Senator, we don’t want our tax cuts rolled back, cut short, cancelled, or whatever other name you want to put to a tax increase, keep your hands of our money!!!

Marine Justice

Although this was written by a retired Marine, I think most of us would echo the sentiment, I know I do.

Open Letter to Terrorists

Hat tip: Vets4Bush.com & The Daily Blogster

This letter is for Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, ”Islamic Response,” and the rest of the so-called “insurgents” in Iraq. I obviously do not have an e-mail address for these vermin, so I am forwarding this letter to my entire address book in the hope you good people will forward it to as many people as possible, and that eventually through the miracle of the internet it somehow ends up in the hands of the intended recipients. Thank you all for your assistance.
To the terrorists currently operating in Iraq,

I see that you have captured a U. S. Marine, and that you plan to cut off his head if your demands are not met. Big mistake. Before you carry out your threat I suggest you read up on Marine Corps history. The Japanese tried the same thing on Makin Island and in a few other places during World War Two, and came to regret it. Go ahead and read about what then happened to the mighty Imperial Army on Tarawa, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. They paid full price for what they did, and you will too.

You look at America and you see a soft target, and to a large extent you are right. Our country is filled with a lot of spoiled people who drive BMWs, sip decaf lattes and watch ridiculous reality TV shows. They are for the most part decent, hard working citizens, but they are soft. When you cut off Nick Berg’s head those people gasped, and you got the media coverage you sought, and then those people went back to their lives. This time it is different. We also have a warrior culture in this country, and they are called Marines. It is a brotherhood forged in the fire of many wars, and the bond between us is stronger than blood. While it is true that this country has produced nitwits like Michael Moore, Howard Dean and Jane Fonda who can be easily manipulated by your gruesome tactics, we have also produced men like Jason Dunham, Brian Chontosh and Joseph Perez. If you don’t recognize those names you should. They are all Marines who distinguished themselves fightin! g to liberate Iraq, and there will be many more just like them coming for you.

Before the current politically correct climate enveloped our culture one of the recruiting slogans of our band of brothers was “The Marine Corps Builds Men.” You will soon find out just how true that is. You, on the other hand, are nothing but a bunch of women. If you were men you would show your faces, and take us on in a fair fight. Instead, you are cowards who hide behind masks and decapitate helpless victims. If you truly represented the interest of the Iraqi people you would not be ambushing those who come to your country to repair your power plants, or sabotage the oil pipelines which fuel the Iraqi economy. Your agenda is hate, plain and simple.

When you raise that sword over your head I want you to remember one thing. Corporal Wassef Ali Hassoun is not alone as he kneels before you. Every Marine who has ever worn the uniform is there with him, and when you strike him you are striking all of us. If you think the Marines were tough on you when they were cleaning out Fallujah a few weeks ago you haven’t seen anything yet. If you want to know what it feels like to have the Wrath of God called down upon you then go ahead and do it. We are not Turkish truck drivers, or Pakistani laborers, or independent contractors hoping to find work in your country. We are the United States Marines, and we will be coming for you.

Michael Moore-on

Permit me to rant this one time. I understand that idiots like Michael Moore have a right to free speech, but why do we give liars like him air time; and, why do our journalists not call him on his blatant lies?

In a new book “Michael Moore is a Big Fat Stupid White Man”, published by Regan books, two authors (David T. Hardy and Jason Clarke) confront Moore on his lies and deceptions.

Moore’s one time publisher, ReganBooks, is out with a disturbing yet comical book that dismantles every cog of that propaganda machine marketed as Michael Moore.

One of his biggest lies is: Moore is a blue-collar guy from Flint, Mich. Right? That’s how he always sells himself. Well that’s not exactly true.

** In reality, he was born and raised in the wealthy, lily-white town of Davison, Mich, the authors reveal. No wonder the clown prince of self-loathing developed such a complex about hating rich, stupid white males.

In a letter to Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times last year, Moore still listed his home town as Flint. In fact, despite his proclamations that “capitalism is a sin” and “an evil system,” he lives in a $1.9 million apartment in Manhattan and enjoys a $1.2 million summer home on Torch Lake in Michigan.

Moore’s lies don’t just stop with his personal life though. They extend into the nonsense that he sells as a documentary. For instance, (this will be of local interest), in Moore’s “Bowling for Columbine”, a “documentary” about the Columbine High School shootings, and events following them, Moore turns on his “facts don’t matter attack machine” again.

Moore claims that National Rifle Association taunted the Denver area and the nation by holding “a large pro-gun rally” only days after the killings at Columbine High School.

** In reality, the annual meeting had been planned well in advance, was required by law, could not have been changed in time to another city, and was stripped of all rallies and ceremony in deference to the community.

The movie depicts Charlton Heston as making his famous “cold, dead hands speech” in Denver.

** In reality, the remarks came a year later in Charlotte, N.C., and Moore spliced bits of footage from that and another speech for maximum distortion. “It is a lie, a fraud, and a few other things,” Hardy and Clarke write.

Most of us on the right have ignored this idiot for years. Actually, all his rantings have really done is reinforce what we have been saying about the far left for years, “Go away we don’t want to hear your contrived nonsense. You’re hurting our country”. There has been an interesting turn of events though. Moore’s rantings have become so far left that the Democrats are even distancing them selves from him.

It’s clear that Michael Moore has gone off the deep end when even Democrats compare him to the Nazis’ master of propaganda:

** “Hollywood agent and Kerry supporter Tom Baer told me, ‘Kerry should flee Moore’s movie. It’s Goebbels all over again.” This quotation comes not from Ann Coulter or Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh but from a column in the Washington Post by Tina Brown, a queen of the liberal media establishment.

** Christopher Hitchens, a contributor to such partisan publications as New Left Review and The Nation, writes for Slate: “Fahrenheit 9/11 is a sinister exercise in moral frivolity, crudely disguised as an exercise in seriousness. It is also a spectacle of abject political cowardice masking itself as a demonstration of ‘dissenting’ bravery.”

** Andrew Sullivan, a former editor at the liberal New Republic: “Moore is beneath contempt.”

In Moore’s new film “Fahrenheit 9/11″, he claims that President Bush went to war in Afghanistan, not to avenge the attacks on our country, but to gain a major oil contract for the much maligned Halliburton. This too is a lie.

Moore claims President Bush invaded Afghanistan and toppled the Taliban so he could get an oil pipeline built. You’ve probably heard others parrot this allegation. A master of propaganda knows that if you repeat a lie often enough, people start to believe it.

** In reality, Bush had supported Enron’s plan to run pipes under the Caspian Sea and avoid Afghanistan. “Clinton was the one backing the rival Unocal plan to put them through Afghanistan,” Hardy and Clarke observe.

With the release of his documentary [sic] “Fahrenheit 9/11″ in theaters around the nation today, I hope that you will boycott Michael Moore and his lies. I will.

***UPDATE***

It seems that Mr. Moore has decided that the 1st amendment applies only to him and his fellow limousine liberals.

Moore is so terrified by his detractors he claims that he has already hired a cabal of lawyers. He says he will sue Bush supporters who he thinks may be preparing to slander him.

Moore’s hypocrisy is obvious. Slate editor Jack Shafer says “Moore’s hysterical, empty threats” to sue critics of his latest schlockumentary shows that he “appears to believe in free speech only for himself.”

Funny, Mr. Moore, I don’t see anything in the first amendment that says “unless your a conservative”.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Kerrys Gloomy Outlook Ignores Facts

Kerrys gloom and doom outlook on the recovering economy may be backfiring on him. In recent stump speeches Kerry has claimed that middle class America is faring miserably under the “Bush economy”. Kerry fails to mention the facts though. What are the facts? Well lets point to a USA Today article.

USA Today is hardly a conservative newspaper, so those of you who might be tempted to pull the conservative media bias line out of your hat, that won’t work.

In the article they point out that Kerry’s negative talk is inevitable for a challenger of an incumbent Presidential candidate. However they also debunk Kerry’s middle class misery index.

How miserably? The Massachusetts senator calculates it using a “middle-class misery index”, a variation of a 40-year-old formula that economists devised to gauge economic health. While the original “misery index” combines just the unemployment and inflation rates, Kerry’s includes seven factors that range from stagnant wages to soaring health care costs. By that measure, Americans are struggling even in the midst of a robust expansion.

* Kerry’s index paints a partial inflation picture. It plots the rise in costs for health care, gasoline and college tuition, which have risen sharply during Bush’s presidency, but it ignores falling or stable prices for other items — from cars to computers to clothing. It also ignores the relatively low unemployment rate of 5.6%, record low interest rates and a stock market up 40% from its 2002 lows, despite recent doldrums.

* It ignores the economic recovery. Most measures of economic health, while below levels of the booming 1990s, have been heading upward. The economy has added an impressive 1.2 million jobs since January, inflation rose a modest 2% over the past year, and wages are picking up.

* It overstates the nation’s “misery”. The traditional “misery index” is a respectable 7.8% so far this year. That compares with a high of 20.6% in 1980 and a low of 6.1% in 1998. It has averaged 7.7% under Bush, lower than in any presidential term in the past 30 years, except for Bill Clinton’s second.

USA Today also recognizes that Kerry has no realistic plan for dealing with the “failing economy”[sic]. The only solution he has offered up is channeling more federal money into health care and education by taking out of our pockets.

…What’s more, Kerry has not offered answers for all of the problems he cites. While he would steer more federal money into health care and college education by eliminating part of the tax cut Bush pushed through two years ago, he has no realistic plan for tamping down gas prices, boosting wages or preventing companies from laying off workers. In fact, presidents have little control over short-term economic trends…

…By talking down the economy, Kerry may hope to pick up votes in economically struggling states where the November election may be decided. But in doing so, he risks sounding out of touch with millions of Americans who see signs of an improving economy — and want a president with a sunnier outlook. The recent death of former president Ronald Reagan recalls just how powerful an optimistic message can be…

Lets hope the American public ignores Kerry’s nay-saying and votes with their heads.

Minority Home Ownership

Bill Clinton likes to refer to the increase in minority home ownership when talking about the success of his presidency. Now this from Reuters. I guess when the Bush administration has success in that arena it’s a bad thing, but Clintons success is a good thing. Hmmmm….. clear as mud.

Coors V. Schaffer

My fellow RMA’er Jonathan at Mangled Cat makes some very interesting points about the Coors inexperience argument. Personally I am a Schaffer supporter but I find myself agreeing with him on every point.

One of the big points in the post is the fact that the Dems don’t need to attack our candidates, we’re doing a good enough job ourselves. My question would be; given that we don’t want to tear ourselves apart from within, how do we decide who will run against the democrat nominee without tearing our party apart. Certainly Both Republican candidates have good points and would most likely make great Senators.

Coors has the business world experience, and has the very thing that our forefathers cried for; citizen leaders who come from “real life” serve a term in office and return to “real life”. Schaffer, while not a career politician, has served two terms in congress and has not only a proven track record, but a working knowledge of what to expect in Washington.

One thing that is certain we as Republicans must get behind one candidate with all our collective weight after the primary is over. I for one will support whoever wins the primary.

He gets it

I was reading Black Five this afternoon and he linked to a Mil blog I had never heard of before. It’s called “An American Soldier”, and it will be a regular stop for me from now on.

Drill Sergeant Rob managed to sum up in one post what I’ve been trying to get across to friends and readers, all two of you, for several months now. I am only going to quote the meat of the post, but I strongly suggest that you go and read the entire thing.

How long should we grovel for the affection of people who hate us? How long are we going to examine ourselves in a magnified mirror, trying to decide which of our flaws justifies the death of our citizens? When are we going to stand together as a Nation and speak with one voice? Our President has thrown down the gauntlet for us. He has taken a stand when a stand had to be taken. If you are a terrorist, you will die. If you support terrorism, you will die. If you attack us because you dislike our politics, policies or culture, you deserve the ass-kicking you will shortly receive. If I have my way, it won’t be a politically correct, sanitary, well-mannered ass-kicking. It’ll be a ferocious, twist the bayonet in your guts, spit Copenhagen in your eyes as they grow dim kind of ass-kicking. I will always treat all civilians with dignity and respect, but once you toss your first grenade or charge your Kalashnikov you have officially stepped on your crank.

Don’t take this the wrong way diplomacy is absolutely indispensable when dealing with multiple governments. War without statecraft is insanity…but statecraft without a threat of force is impotent. There come times when the saber must be rattled…and there comes a time when the saber must be drawn from the sheath, scoured clean and raised for the charge. Without the possibility of action, words become leaves in the wind to be ignored at a tyrant’s leisure..

But the most important thing to consider here is this; what are the consequences of failure in this struggle? If we give in once again to the “no war for any reason” way of thinking, where will it take us? Will it bring on an era of peace and prosperity for all? We’ve been continuously attacked for around 30 years. We have rarely made a coherent determined response. Every time we make a halfhearted, politically acceptable response, the next attack is bolder and more devastating. If we back down on any front, we only reinforce the effectiveness of terrorism. But if we drown out the sniping and mewling of the heartless, spineless and mindless we will win this fight. If we stand together, grit our teeth and commit ourselves to erasing this cancer from the planet no matter how long it takes we will win this war and the world will be a better place for it.

I’ll be putting a link to Drill Sergeant Robs site on my side bar, I hope you’ll make him a regular stop as well.

Times Tough on Bill

While surfing this morning I found a New York Times book review on Bill Clinton’s autobiography. Wow even the Times is finally seeing his legacy seeking self promotion.

The book, which weighs in at more than 950 pages, is sloppy, self-indulgent and often eye-crossingly dull — the sound of one man prattling away, not for the reader, but for himself and some distant recording angel of history…

…But while Dan Rather, who interviewed Mr. Clinton for “60 Minutes,” has already compared the book to the memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant, arguably the most richly satisfying autobiography by an American president, “My Life” has little of that classic’s unsparing candor or historical perspective. Instead, it devolves into a hodgepodge of jottings: part policy primer, part 12-step confessional, part stump speech and part presidential archive, all, it seems, hurriedly written and even more hurriedly edited…

…Part of the problem, of course, is that Mr. Clinton is concerned, here, with cementing — or establishing — his legacy, while at the same time boosting (or at least not undermining) the political career of his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton…

Towards the end of the piece Michiko Kakutani takes the inevitable swing to the left by defending Clinton, or rather taking a back handed swipe at George Bush.

The nation’s first baby-boomer president always seemed like an avatar of his generation, defined by the struggles of the 60’s and Vietnam, comfortable in the use of touchy-feely language, and intent on demystifying his job. And yet the former president’s account of his life, read in this post-9/11 day, feels strangely like an artifact from a distant, more innocent era.

Lies about sex and real estate, partisan rancor over “character issues” (not over weapons of mass destruction or pre-emptive war), psychobabble mea culpas, and tabloid wrangles over stained dresses all seem like pressing matters from another galaxy, far, far away.

In the end, I would say that this is a blistering critique of Bill’s autobiography, “My Life”. I do intend on reading it myself, but I think I will wait until the price comes down a little. After all, No work of fiction or comedy is worth $39.00.

Bastards!!!

***WARNING***, before you follow the link below, there are very graphic pictures. Al Queda has claimed responsibility for the beheading of Paul Johnson today. Paul was over in Saudi Arabia working for Lockheed Martin.

If there is any doubt left in this country that there is evil in this world, and that these people want to kill us, this should remove it. The response to this act of terror should be swift and just as fierce as the act itself. The full weight of the U.S. military should be brought to bear on these animals.

Update: The suspected leader of this gang of thugs was killed in a firefight while disposing of Mr. Johnsons remains. I, along with many Americans will mourn Mr. Johnsons death, however I will not shed a tear over the death of any one of these evil bastards. One question for the left. Where is the outrage over Mr. Johnsons murder? Where is the same outrage that the left expressed over Abu Ghraib? Ted Rall, Ted Kennedy, Al Franken, Al Gore, where are you now?

They’re Still Out There

Al Queda and their allies are still out there and they’re still just as determined as ever to see us dead. Today the FBI uncovered a chilling plot to bomb a shopping center in Ohio. This war is far from over, but we are winning.

The Public Doesn’t Get It

I was reading Jonathan Weisman’s article in the Washington Post this evening and one thing struck me, the general public doesn’t get it. They have forgotten that 9/11 changed everything. For instance, Weisman quotes Steven Valerga of Martinez, Ca.

“It’s a drain on the economy, when there’s so much needed elsewhere. My gosh, we didn’t need to be there…”

…Conversations about the economy gravitate to foreign policy, and voters find the corrosive influence of war in the most unlikely places. To Valerga, the fighting has driven up the cost of the plywood he needed to redo his roof…

Is that all there is to life in America, “the cost of plywood”. Our forefathers didn’t think so. Over the last year I have spent time in a couple nursing homes due to my own health issues. There, I was regaled by stories of rationing of sugar, rubber, gasoline, and other staples that made the American war machine go during the war years of the 40’s. My grandfather’s generation knew that there were sacrifices that needed to be made in order to win the war. The adults in the 40’s had a clear understanding that we were in a fight for our very way of life, and finally, the media made soldiers of WW II war hero’s, rather than war criminals.

My generation, has no such understanding, and aside from Pat Tillman, (some, [Ted Rall] have even tried to demonize him) my generation has no war hero’s. The major media is on the spot to point out the “crimes” [sic] of a few at Abu Ghraib, and even push the envelope by suggesting that there are crimes being committed at the Guantanamo Bay POW Camp.

What then will it take to win this war on terror? I believe it will take a major change in public opinion about those we are fighting. We need to realize that we are indeed in a war against a group of people that want us dead regardless of our political affiliation, religious beliefs, color, or economic status. They want us dead because we are Americans, they want us dead because we believe in freedom, freedom to do whatever you want with your life, freedom to worship God whenever and wherever you want, and even freedom to protest against your own leaders when you feel they have gone wrong. Men like Osama Bin Laden, the Taliban, and Saddam Hussein want a monopoly, they want to be the only ones with a voice in their country. God help us if they win.

I Watched In Awe

I watched yesterday in awe of the man, the ceremony, the out pouring of love from a grateful nation, and the sight of the riderless horse with Reagan’s boots backwards in the stirrups. What a fitting and moving way to pay homage to a great leader. I will forever be changed by the sights and sounds of June 9th, 2004. God bless you President and Mrs. Reagan.

Day of Mourning

President George W. Bush announced today that June 11th, 2004 will be a day of mourning for the passing of former President Reagan. It is my hope that regardless of your political affiliation, you will pay this great man the respect that he is due. Here is the full text of the declaration.

TO THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES:

It is my sad duty to announce officially the death of Ronald Reagan, the fortieth President of the United States, on June 5, 2004.

We are blessed to live in a Nation, and a world, that have been shaped by the will, the leadership, and the vision of Ronald Reagan.

With an unshakable faith in the values of our country and the character of our people, Ronald Reagan renewed America’s confidence and restored our Nation. His optimism, strength, and humility epitomized the American spirit. He always told us that for America the best was yet to come.

Ronald Reagan believed that God takes the side of justice and that America has a special calling to oppose tyranny and defend freedom. Through his courage and determination, he enhanced America’s security and advanced the spread of peace, liberty, and democracy to millions of people who had lived in darkness and oppression. As America’s President, Ronald Reagan helped change the world.

President Reagan has left us, but he has left us stronger and better. We take comfort in the knowledge that he has left us for a better place, the shining city that awaits him.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, in honor and tribute to the memory of Ronald Reagan, and as an expression of public sorrow, do hereby direct that the flag of the United States be displayed at half-staff at the White House and on all buildings, grounds, and Naval vessels of the United States for a period of 30 days from the day of his death. I also direct that for the same length of time, the representatives of the United States in foreign countries shall make similar arrangements for the display of the flag at half-staff over their Embassies, Legations, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and stations.

I hereby order that suitable honors be rendered by units of the Armed Forces under orders of the Secretary of Defense.

I do further appoint Friday, June 11, 2004, as a National Day of Mourning throughout the United States. I call on the American people to assemble on that day in their respective places of worship, there to pay homage to the memory of President Reagan. I invite the people of the world who share our grief to join us in this solemn observance.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this sixth day of June, in the year of our Lord two thousand four, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and twenty-eighth.

GEORGE W. BUSH

Reagan Will Live On

It is somehow fitting that the ship that will carry the strength, resolve, and convictions of this great nation into the 21st century should bear the name of a man who ended the cold war with the words

“General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”

Former President Reagan will be remembered for many things. However, in my opinion, the courage to take on the Soviets with a strong defense and a intense longing to provide freedom for all people will be the most important.

Attacked!!!

My fellow RMA’ers (see sidebar) and a fellow Christian blogger are being attacked by a bunch of foolish children. I am going to link to the blog where we are being attacked, but I will warn you in advance these idiots use very offensive language.

These idiots are running a blog called “More Resevoir Than Tarantino”. I hesitate to ban anyone’s comments because I believe in open honest debate of issues, but because of their foul language, refusal to have an open debate of issues, and the fact that their behavior is just plain evil, I am banning their comments from my site as well.

I have no problem debating with people who have different opinions than mine, but I will not debate with people who say things like this.

The conservative right, the one that’s inherently wrong, makes me… Well, it (Deleted) me right the (Deleted) off.
Abash ye, in the light of going and (Deleted) yourselves, take your dogma and your prayer beads and jump into the 21st century, you narrow-minded (Deleted).

For those of you who are liberal, atheist, or just disagree your comments are welcome so long as they are constructive, and not vulgar.
