LGF has come across some interesting info, apparently Air France flight 68 is being escorted into LAX by airforce F-16’s. Flight 68 is one of the same Paris to L.A. flights that were grounded Christmas day as a terrorist risk. I don’t know if this is a real story or not, LGF is typically a very reliable site but I can’t find anything in the mainstream media about this. Lets hope it is an over reaction.

Armed Sky Marshals…. The transportation Security Administration has asked overseas air carriers to put armed sky marshals on certain “flights of concern” passing through American airspace or landing at U.S. airports. Some of our “allies” are opposed to this idea, stating either that security measures should be handled on the ground, or in the case of the British pilots union “it is to dangerous to fire guns in a pressurized cabin”. I agree with the U.S. measures and feel that we should tell these allies to either comply with the regulations or stay out of U.S. airspace, after all it is our safety at stake. Maybe after a few hundred foreigners miss their new years celebrations our “allies” will see the error of their ways.

527 committees…. Hugh makes a good point, why let the opposition get a head start on the ‘08 election cycle. McCain-Fiengold, compliments of SCOTUS has set the rules that we have to play by. With former Clinton administration big wig Harold Ickes joining the 527 crowd with George Soros, the GOP is down 2-0. It’s this writers opinion that we should hurry up and get in the game.

Dean…. Democrat presidential front runner Howard Dean seems ready to say anything to pander to voters, even the “The President was warned about 9/11 by Saudi Arabia and didn’t do anything to stop it” crowd.
Howard Dean on “Fox News Sunday”
Sunday, December 7, 2003
WALLACE: Governor, there is this continuing question, even in your own party, about whether you’re fit, whether you’re up to being commander in chief. And I want to ask you about a radio interview that you did earlier this week. You were asked about the president suppressing information about what he knew pre-9/11, and here’s what you said.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DEAN: The most interesting theory that I have heard so far, which is nothing more than a theory, I can’t think — it can’t be proved, is that he was warned ahead of time by the Saudis. Now who knows what the real situation is.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
WALLACE: The most interesting theory is that the president was warned ahead of time by the Saudis. Why would you say that, Go who believe that. We don’t know what happened in 9/11. Tom Kean is trying to get some information from the president…
WALLACE: Do you believe that?
DEAN: …Which doesn’t — no, I don’t believe that. I can’t imagine the president of the United States doing that. But we don’t know, and it’d be a nice thing to know.
WALLACE: I’m just curious why you would call that the most interesting theory.
DEAN: Because it’s a pretty odd theory.
What we do believe is that there was a lot of chatter that somehow was missed by the CIA and the FBI about this, and that for some reason we were unable to decide and get clear indications of what the attacks what were going to be. Because the president…
WALLACE: I guess…
DEAN: Because the president won’t give the information to the Kean commission we really don’t know what the explanation is.
The other problem (besides coming dangerously close to accusing President George W. Bush of treason) is that he is a flaming hypocrite. I offer my evidence to the jury:
First Governor Dean on the Presidents reluctance to release vital national intelligence, an act which could endanger our ability to find out what Al Queda’s next move is. Not to mention it would put our human intel assets in the area in great peril.

Next, Governor Dean on refusing to release records from his tenure as Governor of Vermont:
WALLACE: Let’s move on to this question of giving information out. Why have you sealed, for 10 years, about half of your records as governor of Vermont?
DEAN: Well, we gave 60 percent of them out to the public, which is fine. Vermont, like many other states, has a doctrine of protecting people who advise you for a period of time. We took advantage of that doctrine because that’s the law, that’s the way it’s been done.
And, you know, there is not much interesting stuff except for advice that people gave me, which they thought was going to be confidential, and probably some private papers. What we’re trying to do is figure out how to get a third party to review those records so that we can make some of those records public.
WALLACE: I want to take you through this because — and I know that you’re somewhat frustrated that people keep asking about it. But just as you talked about President Bush, people are concerned when public officials decide not to make records public.
In January, you gave Vermont Public Radio a very different reason. Here is what you said: “There are future political considerations. We didn’t want anything embarrassing appearing in the papers at a critical time in any future endeavors.”
Sounds to me like Governor Dean is at very minimum guilty of hypocrisy. He may be guilty of trying to hide a scandal, or maybe he’s just trying to hide his inaptitude.
Six Air France Flights Cancelled… Since 9/11 the Transportation Security Administration has had a policy of no racial profiling, this means that my 2 1/2 year old American born nephew is as big a security risk as a 20-35 year old male from countries like Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan. When will the men and women at Homeland Security and the TSA learn that playing politically correct is not only ridiculous, but it puts our entire country at risk of suffering another horrible terrorist attack as bad or worse than 9/11. I believe that it is the TSA’s policy of not profiling that has allowed our enemy to believe they can pull off another 9/11 style attack.
We need to demand that our leaders in Washington, particularly our Homeland Security Department, Senators, and Congressional representatives do something about this stupid and dangerous policy.
Thanks to the folks at The Command Post for the information and link to the Fox News story.

I am not new to blogging, as a matter of fact I have another very successful blog called My GBS. It is about an illness, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, which I contracted in February of 2003. However this is the first time that I have tried to blog on a subject such as politics. I hope one day to join the ranks of great bloggers like Glenn Reynolds, Hugh Hewitt, James Lileks, and The Elder to name a few.
So begins a new journey, it won’t be easy, but I believe I’m up to the challenge
